US routing number lookup

Look up a 9-digit ABA routing number: check it is valid, see which bank and city it belongs to, and find out which payment rails it can receive — ACH, Fedwire, RTP and FedNow instant payments.

Checked and returned — never stored or logged.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the bank information come from?

From the Federal Reserve’s ACH and Fedwire participant directories and The Clearing House’s list of RTP-enabled routing numbers.

What are RTP and FedNow?

Two US instant payment networks. A payment over either settles in seconds, 24/7. Not every bank receives them yet, so the lookup shows which ones a routing number can receive.

Why does my bank have several routing numbers?

Large banks use different routing numbers by state, and sometimes separate ones for wires. Use the number your bank gives for the kind of payment you are receiving.

What does the check digit do?

The ninth digit is calculated from the first eight with weights 3, 7 and 1. A mistyped digit almost always breaks it, which is how the checker catches typos.

Check bank details from your own app

The same validation is in the FluxRail API — for every country, in one call — and runs automatically on every payout you send.
